- Hit The Play Button. Instead of tapping, mentally play through whatever is getting you down as you would a video in your mind. It can be a thought or a memory.
- Get Your Intensity (SUDs) Rating. Using a scale of 0-10 (10 is really intense while 0 means no intensity) decide what intensity rating you are experiencing.
- Add Light / Brightness To Your Original Memory. Playing through the original thought or memory and add light to the scene in your mind, making it less dark and less intense.
Hint! It will be like you are adding “sunshine” to the scene in your mind!
What Is Happening?
By adding light and brightness you are signaling to your mind that this is not as threatening anymore. You are calming your reaction down just a bit.
You are tossing out the darkness + negativity and editing it to feel lighter, brighter and safer.
