A Deeper Issue
If you seem to be stuck with an issue that you have been trying to chip away at maybe there is something you are missing. We are really good at having (and hiding from) our problems and chances are if you have worked tirelessly on a certain problem there is a good reason you are still struggling with it.
Secondly, I will teach you how to be your own detective.
Ask The Right Questions
Try taking and honest look at the answers to this series of questions:
- How does this problem make my life easier, better or more comfortable?
- What would change in my life if I did not have this to deal with, worry about or stress over?
- Which friends, family or coworkers do I connect with because of this problem?
- What do I want to insert into my life in place of this problem?
The answers to the questions above will instantly provide you with a custom-made Tapping Script. That’s right, you are that good! As an added bonus this script will be better than searching for a generic one on the web because your Tapping Script will contain your own phrasing and this is key.
I Will Go First
Here is a personal example:
My problem: Continuously filling my time with busy work. As a result, my life tends to feel busy, stressed and chaotic!
- How does this problem make my life easier, better or more comfortable? My Answer: I enjoy feeling busy because it means I am ‘needed and important’.
- What would change in my life if I did not have this to deal with, worry about or stress over? My Answer: I would feel bored and I wouldn’t know what to do with my free time!
- Which friends, family or coworkers do I connect with because of this problem? My Answer: I connect with most of my friends over having a stressful, busy life. Every time we get together, we seem to talk about how busy we are and how there is no extra time for us to just relax! As much as we talk about hating this we use it to connect with each other. If I solved this problem in my life, what would I talk about? I would have to find a new way to connect with my friends.
- What do I want to insert into my life in place of this problem? My Answer: More free time and the ability to actually allow myself to relax.
Tapping Through My Script
From my answers above, I would first give each a number rating from 0-10. Then begin tapping:
“I enjoy feeling busy because it means I am needed and important.”
“I feel bored and I don’t know what to do with my free time!”
“I connect with most of my friends over having a stressful, busy life. We chat about how busy we are and how there is no extra time for us to just relax! If I solved this problem, what would I talk about? I choose to find new ways to connect with my friends.” (Notice the use of the phrase “I choose”. HINT: sprinkle “I choose” throughout your script to help change your behavior and create a new habit!)
“I choose to find ways to create more free time. I’m open to actually allowing myself to relax.”
Continue tapping and adding any new words, thoughts or phrases that will (inevitably) surface as you work through your issue. Refresh your number rating after each round until you feel clear.
