“But I’m too busy already!”
That was my exact thought after I learned about the ‘Tapping Buddy” feature when I joined Think and Thin Advanced as a student.
I know it was supposed to feel like an added bonus or a wonderful feature of the program, but in my true Terran-complains-about-everything-style…all I could do was groan about the time commitment this would take and worry about how hard it would be to sync schedules with someone who lived in a completely different time zone (my buddy was in Austria).
Oh and I didn’t mention that I had tried to do the whole Tapping Buddy thing on my own and basically my buddy either canceled on me the majority of the time or I managed to find excuses to cancel on her.
Though having a buddy to tap with sounded like a fabulous theory: you know, a free tapping session each week… a kindred spirit to connect with…a seasoned tapper to practice my mad tapping skills on, I did not have a successful track record with having a Tapping Buddy at all!
Grin and Bear It
Well, what was I going to do? I knew that the reason I signed up for this program in the first place was to make major changes in my life. I also knew that changes don’t (always) come easy. I figured this whole buddy thing must be a crucial piece to the program otherwise, why would it be included? “Okay” I thought, “I may as well dive in and see what happens.”
Best. Decision. Ever.
And So It Began…
So my buddy and I started by blocking off 2 hours per week so we had a running appointment to meet with each other. Then we started working together to find the best way to tap on each other’s issues. We tried everything and eventually settled into a nice routine. We use the good ol’ fashioned version (or vintage, as I like to call it!) Gary Craig original flavor of EFT. As in 3 rounds of set-up statements then tap through all the points repeating reminder statements. We did it this way because my buddy liked this style of tapping and I’m totally 100% flexible when it comes to these things. Yay compromise!
We got through the get-to-know-ya period and started really rocking these weekly sessions. We were so in-sync that we were able to cut our 2 hour block of time down to 1 hour. We built such a strong connection over the course of 6 months that now we start clearing issues in each other super quickly. As in I’m already starting to yawn and relax before we make it through the first tapping round! Amazing huh? I’ve never seen anything like it!
I’m A Believer
To quote The Monkees,
Now I’m a believer
Not a trace of doubt in my mind
(I am hooked), I’m a believer
I couldn’t leave her if I tried

Gosh, they don’t make music like they used to! Haha.
Anyway, back to my main point: I am hooked to my buddy and it’s one of the highlights of my week. And on a week when we are unable to meet, I feel the drop in my energy and rise in my stress levels.
Our sessions are quick, powerful and oh-so-satisfying. I always have a success story to share with her on obvious changes I’ve seen since our previous tapping session every single week.
Can’t Get Enough
I write this blog post to hit home the importance of dedicating time and energy to tapping with someone each week. I always say, “EFT is like brushing your teeth. It only works if you do it consistently!” So having a Tapping Buddy is yet another way to get some more tapping into your weekly routine without having all of the responsibility on your shoulders.
Now go grab a buddy and start tapping!
Have you worked with a buddy? What are your thoughts on the whole idea? Send me your thoughts I love hearing your thoughts, questions and aha’s!
