The Hamster Wheel

So perhaps you are like me and you are always looking for the next best thing to push yourself forward in the self-growth realm.  It’s a constant hunger with me; as soon as I purchase a session with one modality I’m hungry to try a different modality.  As soon as I acquire a set of self-growth audios, I’m aching to try the next level of audios (the “upgrade”).  Each time a new energy tool flier meanders its way into my inbox I want to buy, buy, buy it now!

I think it happens to the best of us because we all want to be better, happier, clearer and freer.  Of course we are hungry for change, it’s a great “problem” to have… except when it becomes exhausting.

This is what happened to me my situation though I was making great progress, I never felt like I had arrived at my destination.  I clearly saw my improvements but couldn’t give myself credit and relax for even a second.  I could never bask in the sunshine of my self-growth accomplishments. I was trying this and buying that and practicing these for 30 days and repeating those 3 times a day, yet it was never enough. I reached this point and decided I wanted a breather but didn’t know how to relax and coast for a while.  I asked myself, “How can I remedy this ASAP?” and what I got was “Simple, you tap on it, silly!”

Let’s tap these rounds using the Faster EFT style!

Get quiet and tune into the feeling of never having enough. Feel it fully.  Now rate it on a scale of 1-10 (1 = no emotion while 10 = intense emotion). Allow a number to pop into your head and make note of it. That’s your rating of intensity.  Now forget about your number and tap with me.

EB: I cannot get enough

SE: It’s just never enough

UE: I want more

CB: I need more

EB: I will never arrive

SE: I will never be enough

UE: I will never be happy

CB: No matter how much I do

EB: No matter how hard I try

SE: Must. Have. More.

UE: This feels like a bottomless pit

CB: How can I appreciate all my hard work?

Take a deep breath, hold the wrist point and say “Peace”.

Tune into the original feeling and note your new number.  Has it increased? Decreased? Stayed the same?  Whatever it is, note it and continue tapping. (unless you’ve reached a 1 or a 0…then you’re done!)

Next round.

EB: Here we go again

SE: It’s not enough for me

UE: I’ll always want more

CB: Maybe I can choose

EB: Something different.

SE: What if my perspective changed?

UE: What if I noticed the progress?

CB: What if my mind,

EB: Focused on what’s done,

SE: Instead of what is not done?

UE: What if I only saw the progress?

CB: What if the progress felt good?

Take a deep breath, hold the wrist point and say “Peace”.

Tune back into the original feeling and note your new number.  Note your new rating and continue tapping.

EB: What if I could feel safe,

SE: Appreciating my current state?

UE: Isn’t it a journey?

CB: Not a destination.

EB: What if I’m awesome NOW?

SE: I mean seriously,

UE: What if I’m absolutely perfect?

CB: No, no I can’t be perfect now!

EB: I haven’t tried it all!

SE: I haven’t “fixed” myself.

UE: There is always more to be done.

CB: But I’d like to let this feeling go.

Take a deep breath, hold the wrist point and say “Peace”.

Stop and take a second to tune into the original feeling and note your new number.  Note your new rating and continue tapping the final round.

EB: I can see the progress.

SE: I can see the growth.

UE: Now what will I do?

CB: I’ll get bored!

EB: What will I hunger for now?

SE: What will I aim for?

UE: What thoughts will occupy my bored brain?

CB: How about thoughts of,

EB: Accomplishment?

SE: How about I bask in my success and

UE: My ability to grow?

CB: Can I accept myself just a little?

EB: Can I love me right here, right now?

SE: Can I trust my ability to accept me, as is?

UE: Can I see how amazing I am and how far I’ve come?

CB: Why, yes! I can!

Take a deep breath, hold the wrist point and say “Peace”.
